Rated 12. Ma vie en rose translates as "my life in pink". It follows a boy who has a strong desire to be a girl and cross dresses, which creates the drama that is Ma vie en rose! As you can see from the above poster this won many awards. This film is not in the english language (it is french) and won a goldon globe. Why, I'll never know.
Ma vie en rose benefits from good performances the young actor who plays Ludovic and many of its other actors. There is a bold combination of styles. Goes into the imagination of a young boy well but it is uneffective in the end. The concept is a good one which is horribly misused. At the beggining you think: " Wow this is going to be really affecting and I'm going to love it!" That is what I thought. At first.
The good concept is completely squandered. Firstly, the film is rather upsetting. Many would translate that as moving. Sometimes, I disagree with the general opinion of a film. I'm giving a movie which managed to get 90% on rotten tomatoes a negative review. I have my reasons. This could be too much for some. It actually got an R rating in the united states and a 12 certificate in the UK. Probaly because the film is deeply upseting. It just is. Not everyone will be able to watch and like this.
Another thing I will add is that the plot is terrible. Not joking. It is very bad. The plot is frantic and adds event after event stacked together. The drama just doesn't work. Just hopelesssly muddled and not thought about carefully enough. The bleak and haunting theme music could be described and poignant by some yet I describe it as making the film menacing and bleak. The film isn't dramatic in its emotions. When it tries to be dramatic it just doesn't work. Perhaps, worst of all, the conclusion settles nothing. Sometimes I have disliked whole films because they have a bad ending. Films I have moderately enjoyed until the end (eg Star Wars: The Clone Wars). I mean, the family is ok again. What kind of an ending is that? I mean, the boy still wants to be a girl. Conclusion is very bad indeed. Terrible plot!
Overall verdict: This unpleasant film has a bold combination of styles and decent performances but a stupid plot, an empty conclusion, over-seriousness and lack of emotional insight make this a deeply unintelligent drama. 1.5 stars out of 5.

Jaws review
Rated PG. Jaws is a 1975 suspense horror thriller from master directer Steven Spielberg starring Roy Schneider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw. The first blockbuster ever, Jaws is an amazing suspense thriller, complete with terrifying moments of suspense and a influential directioal touch and a genuine masterpiece.
A simple concept goes a long way. A great-white shark goes on the rampage at a small holiday resort and 3 men try to kill it. But this toothy terror looks like a rubber bath toy. Ok. Bit of a problem. But all the other Jaws sequels had the same problem except for the third sequel. The sequels are bad. Very bad. Jaws 2: OK. Jaws 3-D: Poor. Jaws: the revenge: Terrible!!!!!!!!!!! But this has the scariest touch yet it is also the most subtle, proving that subtlety is key to total scaryness, rather than ridicoulous amounts of blood and gore and brief tension. For most of the film, we don't see the shark, so the first image of the shark is pretty scary. The film is gory in some ways, yet it goes not go over the top.
Very scary movie! Though it loses its scary touc slightly if you watch the film again and again. The film is filled with decent performances and also a nice side serving of thrilling scenes, particuarly the climax. A decent script as well, most notably Quint's (Robert Shaw) speech about a histrorical event. The characters aren't the greatest yet they are likable heroes (except for Quint).
The highest grossing film of 1975 and Steven Speilberg's highest rated film on rotten tomatoes (100%. Well deserved) the movie's success is well deserved. It truly is!
So over all verdict is: Amazing, really scary, excellently directed, exciting groundbreaking 1970s horror thriller. Five stars out of 5.

Alice in wonderland review
Rated PG. Alice in wonderland is not Tim burton's usaul style. Burton often makes dark movies like batman and Sweeny Todd. Now, just like with Charlie and the chocolate factory, Burton goes to visualy apealing, wildy imaginative sets. Undeniably, a visulal treat, just remember, this may feel like a mockery ofthe original novel to some.
Hmmm.... strong cast. The Mad Hatter in the poster above is played by fine actor Johnny Depp. Although The Red Queen and The White Queen are also very good, the character of Alice is a bit silly. And also.... WHY THAT DANCE AT THE END OF THE MOVIE!? That was so unnesciary (and pretty embarrasing too!) Some very silly details which could've been left out. I like visual spectacles but this is little silly. Odd twisted imagery. I mean, the disney version was terrible so this is a step up.
As usaul, loads of fine computer generated imagery yet you never feel anything in 3D. But loads of nice imagery, art direction and costume design, the movie has a certain style to it. Nearly everyone has seen this movie. Surprisingly, it is the sixth highest grossing film ever. But that is just curiosity to see the film. It isn't Disney's finest and doesn't have the novel injected into its veins at all. Perfectly exciting movie. Don't get me wrong, I have never read the book properly but it does not sound very good. So this is fine for me, but I am thinking about all those that love the book.
Innovative in its own way. Most things are new (Certainly to the world of Alice in wonderland) but things like the big battle at the end feels like it's copied from Narnia.
Not in any way a terrible movie, just....... it wo't please everyone. 2.5 stars out of 5.

Romeo + Juliet review
Rated 12. This adaptation of the world's greatest love story is set in mordern times in a fictional town. It is very inventive, but also it is without the heart or the heartbreak of the its source matireal, relying on extreme and ugly takes on important scenes.
Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes do their best. The film has things like the families being rival buisnsses and the prince being the chief of police and the balcony scene taking place in a pool. Very inventive, interesting take on the heartbreaking love story! The acting is OK, with good use of Shakespeare's dialouge.
But what is 'thou', 'thee', or 'doth' doing in mordern times? The dialouge seems very out of place! There are definetly disadvantages to the film being set in mordern times. The play is a touching and poignant spectacle, not an ugly city drama! Guns instead of swords, car chases instead of chases on foot... you get the idea. Just like the recent Gulivers Travels film, this fails to do its source matirial justice. I don't know how this managed to get 69% on rotten tomatoes.
Also I would like to point out something else. The movie violent and bloody. The fight between Tybalt, Romeo and Mecrutio is made very bloody. But what I highlight most is the scene where Juliet's father gets cross with her for not wanting to marry Count Paris. Instead of him just being cross he starts hitting everyone. Thecharacter of ord capullet is made very unpleasant in this film. Because it contain violence, gore and sex, it's not exactly something you could show to a primary school class who are studying Shakespeare, can you?
This movie is unpleasant, distastefully mordern and ugly with a capital U. If Shakespeare was alive today, something tells me he wouldn't be too pleased with this! 1.5 stars out of 5.

Epic movie review
Rated 15. Epic movie is another VERY silly parody movie from Friedberg and Seltzer. Still, out of all the Friedberg and Seltzer films, this is one that parodies the best films. The movie is quite fun but I probably only say that because I'm a kid. The truth is, the movie is shamelessly crude and filled with predictable and silly humour that never rase more then a few chuckles.
Perhaps it's fun because it stays suprisingly faithful to the film: The lion, the witch and the wardrobe, which is what it mainly parodies despite Jack Sparrow being at the front of many of the posters. 4 orphans come from different backrounds (each of which parodies a different movie), then a chain of events leads to them going into a chocolate factory where they find a wardrobe and go to Gnarnia, where they must save it from the evil white *****!
The acting isn't that great but it's OK. There are some funny bits: The bit when the character from The Da Vinci Code runs down the slope screeching wildly, a part at the end of the big battle involving the white *****, the bit which parodies snakes on a plane and a part in the chocalate factory as well as a catchy pirate rap. Trouble is, some of these funy bits have been seen or hinted in the trailer. The rest of the movie never seems to raise more than a few chuckles.
With the humour you often know what's coming. And if this movie looks like a fun comedy which is great for kids, it isn't. Trust me. The movie is very rude, with sex references, swear words, comic violence and even brief nudity. Its 15 rating is definetely apropiate. This movie needs to realise there's more to a comedy than rude jokes.
As well as that, this movie could be very offensive to those who like Narnia. I mean think about. The last time I looked, Aslan was a noble lion, not a rather dirty old man! Also, Jack Sparrow works, the white *****, Peter uses the remote control from click to defeat the white *****'s army, the kids go to Hogwarts.... well, you get the picture. Narnia with the rude bits.
I think what makes this movie fun is all the pop culture references within. It knows it's going to be bad and just goes ahead with lame pop culture gags and silly, absurd humour. only the fun of this technicly terrible movie elevates it into the 1.5 star rating. 1. 5 stars out of 5.

Deep blue sea review
Rated 15. Though deriative and a little silly, Deep blue sae is a heart pounding thriller with plenty of fantastic thrills, scares and decent effects.
Ok, so it does copy Jaws quite a bit. Jaws is better than this. This is also unlikely and rather silly. Just quite a fun little thriller really.
But this movie comes close to Jaws because it is very scary, very exciting and much better than any of the sequels to jaws. A mind blowing thriller!
Super cool and really scary, just silly, but great fun! 4 stars out of 5.

Shaun of the dead review
Rated 15. This horror comedy, filled with genius satire and decent thrills, provides the ultimate zombe movie.
Very funny, scary and ingenious, this is fantastic entertainment!
OK, a few may find the film irritating but most will find it a hugely entertaining zombie movie, even if it perhaps dosen't go as far as it should as a few more exciting bits could of been added.
Shaun of the dead is very funny with loads of clever satire and a huge amount a good jokes. Also, its imensely likable star adds to the fun. It has excellent direction and a few decent scares too. Some pretty gory stuff as well. Therefore, an excellent mix and horror and comedy.
Genius. The ultimate zombie thriller. Five stars out of 5.
